The Ethics Network - Aims and Goals

The Ethics Network has the objective of strengthening ethical practices in the public institutions, commercial entities, trade and professional associations throughout Australia, by linking up academics and practitioners working on ethics issues, and sharing their knowledge and insights. It will

  • encourage and undertake research in priority areas (see our research program)

  • facilitate the exchange of knowledge and the building of coalitions of people working on ethical issues (through this website)

  • make the findings of Australian research widely available

  • ensuring that this knowledge and this research is put into practical effect.

 Encouraging and undertaking research lion

See our research program. Researchers, teachers and practitioners who wish to contribute to this program are encouraged to do so. Results as they become available will be posted on this website

Facilitating the exchange of knowledge and building of coalitions lion

The publication of research is one step in building linkages. The website also publishes a discussion forum with the objective of exchanging views among ethicists on needs, opportunities and concepts that will lead to new ideas or new research. In addition, each quarter, it emails to its associates an list of all associates , their contact details and areas of research interests, To receive that update and list, contact The Coordinator , providing details.

Making the findings of Australian research widely available lion

Researchers in different disciplines working on the same or similar issues, will largely be unaware of each other's work.

In addition, many people working on ethical issues that cross institutional boundaries publish their work in overseas journals.

The Network has the objective of helping resolve these problems. It shall achieve this objective through a routine searching of all journals, domestic and overseas, for articles documenting Australian empirical research. It shall make this information available on its website. See Australian Research. Associates are encouraged to contribute to this data bank.

Ensuring that this knowledge and research is put into practical effect lion

The Network makes available the results of its research into improved methods of teaching and into the operation of ethics programs across all disciplines through a quarterly email. This website is known and available to teachers and trainers in ethics, and directly to professional associations.
